Becoming a Person of Influence Through Obedience

by Tina Augustus

Did you know that your very existence on this earth plays an important role in helping people get to where they belong in life? As His sons and daughters, God has called us to hear His voice through His Word and to reach those who are lost: those who need help in accomplishing a task or project, those who are misdirected, including those who just need a little hand-up. His command to us was to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, take care of the widowed, and care for the sick.  We are His ambassadors in the earth. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, one definition of an ambassador is an authorized representative or messenger. We represent God here on earth and we are the true messengers of His Word.

Realizing that I am God’s ambassador, each day that I live God has shown me how important my life is to people who are connected to me, and how my obedience to His Word affects the path that they take in their lives at that particular time.  My obedience to God’s Word can either hinder or it can help people walk through their life’s journey successfully, and can even help them reach their destiny.

In other words, my influence in the lives of my loved ones, friends and associates is powerful, and I do not take it lightly. For example, whenever someone encounters a great opportunity because of connections, such as a good salaried position, entry into a program with competitive admission requirements, or an offer for a sought after contract, that individual must recognize that s/he has that opportunity because of a person of influence who referred them to the company.

To become a person of influence, and I mean influence in a positive way, you must live a life of integrity and sacrifice. One must be prepared to sow a seed of finances, time, and resources. Recently I had an experience where I heard Holy Spirit speak to me about launching a new project. I had been hemming and hawing for a number of years, ignoring the command that God had given me for reaching His people through my marketing and resource development corporation, Elevate Services, Inc. He said, “Either you are going to launch this project or I am going to find someone else.” With no choice about the matter, my only option was to carry out the plan that God had placed in my life many years ago.

I had to start by sacrificing my time, my money and resources and began making phone calls to get the ball rolling. Doors began to open that I had no idea would happen. It is so amazing how God helps those He loves! He has the people, the resources, the funds and whatever else you need already lined up waiting for you!

The Lord’s word says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” What is your expected end?
