Black History Month Celebration

Vatic Publishing presents our 4th Annual

Black History Month:

A Celebration of Excellence!

In 2017, a couple of young and enthusiastic Tomah area students began a spirited conversation about Black History Month. They had noticed friends excitedly preparing for special celebrations around culture such as St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Native American Heritage Month, and Oktoberfest. The children’s excitement about becoming “honorary Irishmen” for a day or trying new Mexican food was palpable, but it also brought to light the absence of an opportunity for them to share their own celebration of culture and heritage with friends.

In 2018 Vatic would host our first Black History Month dinner celebration. It was a small, informal event held in a beautiful community center that seated approximately 40 people, comfortably. There were friends and family from various ethnic backgrounds in attendance including excited children and emotional adults. Attendees enjoyed conversation around heritage, culture, inclusivity, and community as well as an opportunity to present our children with gifts and a wonderful meal. With increasing demand, we have outgrown that small, intimate space and now host the celebration as a banquet. This year we will gather on Saturday, February 18 at 1:00pm. Join us for an afternoon of prayer, celebration, and fellowship! If you cannot join us, please consider lending your support.
