Don't Drown... SWIM!

by Harvette Keene

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed but not in despair; Persecuted but not forsaken; cast down but not destroyed....

Oh my Goodness! Yesterday was one of those days! Before I could complete one task, several people were coming with other tasks that also demanded my attention, and to make matters worse, I wasn't given the necessary information needed to perform my job proficiently and effectively. I could feel the stress building!!!

I had a decision to make either-- DROWN OR SWIM! DROWN OR SWIM! DROWN OR SWIM! I decided to swim! Becoming angry or aggravated wasn't going to change the situation; it would have caused my co-workers to look at me differently, thereby killing my witness. My situation just happened to be work related, but whatever the issues may be, the principle is the same. You either let it overtake you, or you call for back-up!

Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength; a very present help in trouble.

And the great thing is God is not far off. He is on the inside of you! You don't have to scream or shout like He is hard of hearing, you can whisper or don't say a word. Just think it in your heart "Lord, I need your help!" And the peace of God will envelope you and give you exactly what is needed to complete the task, the test, and the trial. It is not His desire that you drown, He wants you to learn how to swim! “Swimming” is very beneficial, it improves your flexibility, it builds endurance and it makes the heart muscle stronger!  DON'T DROWN... SWIM!
